November 12-14, 2010
Greening Homes exhibited at the Fall Baby Time Show at Booth #473. This was an opportunity to take a look at the latest baby and toddler oriented products. Greening Homes services many clients who want to remodel their homes to create environmentally friendly, non-toxic and healthy spaces for their children.

Chris Phillips represented Greening Homes and the renovations sector in a CMHC Mortgage Loan Insurance Green Home Industry Consultation. This consultation brought together a select number of leading industry experts to search out their opinions on how best to promote government policies on energy conservation and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.

Greening Homes exhibited as part of the City of Toronto’s Live Green Toronto Festival –Toronto’s annual celebration of all things green. Yonge Street, from Dundas to Queen, was closed off to traffic for two days of good clean fun in the sun!

The “Healthy Home” Sustainable Condo exhibit at Downsview Park was officially launched! Guided tours of the full-sized model condo built by Greening Homes are available Monday-Friday evenings from 6-9pm and on weekends from 1-3pm.

Greening Homes exhibited at The National Home Show, held at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place (Toronto). We were located in the Live Green Toronto Pavilion, Booth #LG 10!
Greening Homes is thrilled to announce its involvement in Version 2.0 of the Sustainable Condo, which will be on exhibit for the next two years at The Hangar, in Downsview Park, Toronto. The Sustainable Condo brings together a number of major players in the green building movement, and is a partnership that includes Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), and the not-for-profit EcoSmart Foundation. The Sustainable Condo is a showcase of the latest green materials and technologies and Greening Homes has been chosen as the builder! Greening Homes will be constructing the full-sized condo exhbit from Nov. 23 to Feb. 5, 2010.
Chris Phillips, Principal of Greening Homes, recently joined Fleming College’s Program Advisory Committee to begin the development of a new Sustainable Renovations programme. The first class is tentatively slated to begin in September 2010! Chris is a graduate of Fleming’s Sustainable Building Design and Construction programme.

Greening Homes attended Building Science Insight 2009/10, a seminar series produced by the National Research Council of Canada. This year’s topic: Energy Efficiency in Buildings.

Greening Homes attended The National Green Building Conference, participating in numerous seminars including information sessions on eliminating the vapour barrier in buildings and new green building materials and innovations entering the marketplace.

Greening Homes will be exhibiting at The International Home Show, held at the International Centre, 6900 Airport Road (Toronto). Our booth this year will include four unique and scientifically sound experimental wall systems developed as part of Ryerson University’s Building Science graduate programme. The walls are made entirely from waste materials! Visit us in Hall 3, booth M01.

Sept. 25-26, 2008
Greening Homes attended IIDEX 2008, Canada’s premier design conference and trade show.
Fall 2008: Rammed earth bag cistern pad project, HOPE Community Garden. Greening Homes constructed an alternative platform out of rammed earth bags for a rainwater harvesting project led by Greenest City, a community environmental organisation in the Parkdale area of Toronto. With the help of a numerous volunteers, this project avoided the use of tons of environmentally unfriendly concrete. Read more about this project here.

Greening Homes was at the Toronto and Region Conservation Area’s Kortright Centre, presenting a 2-hour talk on Green Building Materials as part of the Passive Solar and Green Building Design workshop. Details of this event can be found on the Kortright Centre website.

Greening Homes was invited by the Toronto International Home Show to construct a sustainable home display wall out of straw bale. This display was the backdrop for the main stage of the Green Street Pavilion. Greening Homes was interviewed and appeared on CFRB 1010 (radio), The Weather Network, and Rogers TV.
