Our Greener Side Celebration 2011
Inspired by the idea that small changes add up to make a world of difference, Our Greener Side Celebration was created to enable change-ready individuals to learn about local and convenient choices that support an eco-friendly lifestyle.
This one-day community event features family-friendly activities and engaging demonstrations designed to help residents from York Region and other GTA communities live sustainably, from reducing waste and minimizing water usage to eating locally and travelling “green”. It also showcases many environmental and sustainability programs and services offered by a variety of local government and non-government agencies.
Recognizing that many Canadians are concerned about the environment and are looking for ways to reduce their environmental footprint, Our Greener Side Celebration aims to help visitors discover how easy it is to be green by equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to become environmentally informed citizens.
Held for the first time in May 2009, Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) and The Regional Municipality of York were and continue to be the driving forces behind the event.
