Greening Homes: Renovations Done Responsibly
Greening Homes was founded on the mandate to minimize the environmental impact of our projects as much as possible. We do this by using a four-pronged approach to sustainability: By careful and educated material selection, through responsible waste management, by minimizing carbon emissions in our transportation to and from our sites, and by simply building energy efficient, beautiful, and durable structures. We are committed to being an impetus for change in what is often a very wasteful, unhealthy, and energy inefficient industry. Our efforts to minimize our environmental impact are recorded for each and every project that we do and compiled into our Sustainable Project Management Report, provided to the homeowner upon completion of our work.
Although we maintain strict environmental protocols and procedures for everything we do, we work within this framework to meet the needs of each particular client. “Light green” or “deep green”, you can be sure that every Greening Homes renovation will operate beyond conventional standards.
We try to practice what we preach! Greening Homes is a member of the Canada Green Building Council as an Emerging Green Builder, the Ontario Straw Bale Building Coalition, Green Enterprise Toronto, and the City of Toronto’s Live Green programme. We own an extensive company library that touches on every facet of green and alternative building: From waste management, to indoor air quality, to renewable energy systems.
Our office is powered using clean, 100% renewable energy supplied by Bullfrog Power. LEDs are used for our office lighting, all our electronics are Energy Star-rated, and the office paper that we use is non-bleached FSC-certified 100% post-consumer recycled. Our office walls are finished in non-toxic 100% natural earthen plasters and trimmed using solid finger-jointed pine. We use the services of The World’s Greenest Business Cards (FSC-certified 100% post-consumer recycled, waterless printing) for our business cards and stationary. And — after public transit — the second most common way for our crew to get to our renovation projects is by bicycle.
Established in 2007, Greening Homes Ltd. is a fully licensed, insured and bonded alternative renovations and healthy building consulting company headquartered in the Junction Triangle area of Toronto, Canada.
